Privacy policy
Novel Document Reader is designed around local processing. This policy explains what the extension handles, what leaves the browser, and the controls available to users.
Information handled by the extension
The extension handles story page URLs, chapter links, chapter titles, and story text from pages the user explicitly asks it to open. It can also handle Word documents, profile images, reading preferences, keyboard shortcuts, document layout settings, and the most recently loaded chapter selected by the user.
How information is used
This information is used only to provide the extension's document-style reading functionality. Uploaded documents, story content, profile images, and settings are processed in the browser and stored in Chrome local extension storage so preferences can persist between sessions.
Payments and Premium accounts
When a user opens checkout, restores a purchase, or refreshes Premium status, the extension communicates with ExtensionPay. ExtensionPay may process the email used for payment or account restoration, installation or account identifiers, plan information, payment status, and payment dates. Stripe processes payment details on pages operated by Stripe or ExtensionPay.
Novel Document Reader does not collect or store complete card numbers, CVC values, Stripe secret keys, or bank-account credentials.
Sharing and third parties
The extension does not sell document contents, story text, profile images, or reading preferences. When the extension opens a requested story page, the browser communicates directly with that website. Payment and entitlement information is shared only with ExtensionPay and Stripe as needed to provide checkout, account restoration, and Premium status.
Permissions
Required website access is limited to supported fiction services disclosed in the Chrome Web Store listing. Access to another compatible HTTPS fiction website is optional and requested for that website only after the user selects the custom website feature. Page extraction is initiated by the user.
Retention and user control
Local extension data remains in Chrome storage until the user replaces it, clears the extension's storage, or uninstalls the extension. Users can revoke optional website access from Chrome's extension settings.
Access controls
The extension does not bypass authentication, subscriptions, paywalls, age gates, CAPTCHAs, or other access controls. Users are responsible for complying with the terms and rights that apply to content they access.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Use of information received from Chrome APIs is limited to providing or improving the extension's disclosed, single-purpose reading functionality and follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
